• proceeds posteriorly along the AV groove between the left atrium & left ventricle

left marginal artery

Distribution

• lateral wall of the left ventricle
• In 10% of individuals, the left circumflex gives rise to a posterior descending branch supplying the posterior wall & inferior wall/apex of the heart. These same individuals also have a small branch of the left circumflex supplying the AV node.
